Husband & wife immigration officers in M'sia allegedly used bribe money to open S$183,000 gold shop

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) revealed that 2 immigration officers, a husband and wife, were arrested for allegedly using bribe money to open a gold shop in Pahang.
The pair, who are in their 40s, have been placed under a five-day remand.
They are suspected of having facilitated the entry of foreign nationals into Malaysia without the proper documentation.
Here is on the investigation.
"A married couple who worked as immigration officers were found to afford to open a gold shop. It is believed to have been funded by bribes that they have received over four years.
Investigations show that the couple used their sibling and child as proxy to open the gold shop. The capital to open the gold shop is estimated to be around RM 600,000.
"For a period of four years since 2020, the suspects were believed to have collection about RM 900,000 for use to open the gold shop and to buy a luxury car.
When the gold shop in Pahang was raided, about RM 1.4 million worth of gold savings were found, weighing at about 3kg."
